Our Blue Planet

The Path of Restoration to Save the Earth

NHK WORLD JAPAN has broadcast this year’s edition of Our Blue Planet: The Path of Restoration to Save the Earth, a 30-minute programme produced by the Asahi Glass Foundation to showcase the achievements of the Blue Planet Prize winners.

This year’s film showcases the work of Professor Robert Jackson and Dr Jeremy Leggett – exploring the science, leadership and long-term thinking needed to address climate change and biodiversity loss.

The programme reflects on the global significance of the Prize, first established in 1992, and the role of its laureates in shaping environmental progress across science, markets and policy.

In Dr Leggett’s case it describes the life-changing moment when he quit his life in and around the oil industry, an early example of the exodus now gathering pace with the advent of the Life After Oil campaign.

If you have half an hour, it is well worth a watch. Or catch Jeremy Leggett from 15:40.
