Baselining fully underway at Bunloit

Carbon baseline surveys and management actions include:

  • Agricarbon sampling

    TerraMotion analysis of peatlands, finding significant erosion, drainage and carbon emissions. Further work with specialists from James Hutton Institute & University of the Highlands & Islands finds 748,778 to 1,097,640 tonnes of CO2e stored in the Bunloit peatlands

  • A peatland depth mapping exercise at Bunloit with a group of volunteer students from Glasgow University. The resulting depth measurements were interpolated using GIS software to calculate a peat volume of 1,159,242 m3

  • Forest-to-bog/ peatland action planning starts for peat bog restoration
