Bracken bashing at Bunloit
Habitat management is an important task when managing land for nature. At Bunloit, there are expansive areas of bracken which can smother other flora in our grasslands. Join our Rangers on this Bunliot Nature Day to help control the bracken with a practice called bracken bashing or bruising. This technique will weaken the plant, making next year’s growth less vigorous.
All tools and equipment will be provided. We have spare work gloves, though if you have a pair please bring them to ensure a proper fit. If you wish to join us on the 3rd July, please bring suitable outdoor clothing and a packed lunch. There will be plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching as well, if that is of interest.
Meeting place will be at the Bunloit Farmhouse carpark (Grid Ref: NH 50429 25262, or W3W ///waggled.harps.statement).
If you are a new volunteer, and to find out more, please get in touch with Beth, Ranger at our Bunloit Estate, beth.harwood@highlandsrewilding.co.uk.)
