Highlands Rewilding named Blue Earth Top 100 company

We are delighted to have been included in the Blue Earth list of the 100 top companies "transforming the way the world works.” This “BE 100” list was drawn up from thousands of candidates by a review panel consisting of Blue Earth partners including HSBC and Innovate UK, and a panel of venture capital companies.

Of the 100, only four were classified in the nature, nature-based services or natural capital sectors. That shows how much of a frontier we are still on. And it reinforces our determination to play a lead role in helping our nascent industry break through to scale.

We can all be encouraged in this by recent successes among our peers. (We don’t think of them as competitors, because the potential market is so huge, and there cannot be a market at all without a critical mass of accomplished players, ideally with a variety of business models). Apropos that, Rebalance Earth is building the first portfolio with pension fund money, Restore has been included in that portfolio, Oxygen Conservation are acquiring a very impressive portfolio of land to manage for nature, and Nattergal is going great guns, having sold both biodiversity net gain credits and charismatic carbon in the English market. There will be more good news to come in the rest of the year, including from Highlands Rewilding.

Our own progress is summarised in this short film (also below), which we have prepared for the Blue Earth Summit this week, where we will be represented by Jeremy, Tony and Hannah. If you are there, please come along to our stand, say hi, and see some amazing mini-films from the Highland wildlands we manage. Get in touch at info@highlandsrewilding.co.uk.
